A GROUP of young filmmakers from Suffolk are set to roll out the red carpet to premiere their film in Bury St Edmunds.

Their film, Why So Negative? will be shown at The Athenaeum on June 9 at 7.30pm.

In January, Emma Thurgood, 21, Glynn Frost, 13, Esther Hegarty, 19, and Coral Norman, 15, started the mammoth task of writing, filming and editing their own film from scratch.

In the film they wanted to tackle the issue of how young people are perceived in society, so spent six intensive sessions over two months creating the film.

Why So Negative? was made as a partnership with Moyse’s Hall Museum and is part of five Heritage Lottery funded museum projects taking place across Suffolk throughout 2011.

Emma, from Newmarket, said: “I have just finished a photography course and thought it would be a great chance for me to expand my skills.

“The whole experience was fantastic and I met a great bunch of people.”
