Molière’s 1668 satirical comedy The Miser is moved to modern Mumbai in Tara Arts’ version at the Theatre Royal.

Kanjoos—The Miser by Hardeep Singh Kohli and Jatinder Verma, follows Harjinder ‘makhi-choos’ (flea-sucking miser). He is obsessed with hoarding wealth by adhering to his interpretation of Gandhi’s principles of minimum dress and food, self-sacrifice and raw frugality.

Unfortunately, his children have other ideas, being desperate for marriage and obsessed with the Bollywood life-style of Mumbai. Comedy, love, lust, greed, dance and magical Bollywood music are the ingredients that set this miser apart.
