Bury Theatre Workshop continues its summer season of plays with Woman in Mind by Alan Ayckbourn.
To be performed at Bury St Edmunds’ Theatre Royal from July 15 to 18, Ayckbourn’s 32nd play is considered to be one of his best and most meaningful.
It is both a thought provoking and hilarious comedy about a woman going through a mid-life crisis.
It follows Susan, a middle-aged vicar’s wife, who escapes the routine of supporting her husband and widowed sister-in-law, by indulging in a fantasy life with an adoring family and beautiful house and grounds.
These perfect people of her imagination praise her many skills and abilities, while her real family are unappreciative and critical.
As fantasy and reality collide, Susan’s plight becomes ever more confusing.
Ayckbourn is a master at laying bare the comic and tragic underbelly of the middle class.
Woman in Mind is directed by Richard Stainer and Liz Jump is Susan.
Formed in February 2012, Bury Theatre Workshop is a community theatre group based in Bury St Edmunds.
