A Cambridge venue is straying off the beaten fairytale track for its Christmas pantomime this year.
The Junction will be staging Snow White and Rose Red, an alternative action-packed family show, from December 11 to 31.
Produced by acclaimed theatre company RashDash, the story is based on the Brothers Grimm’s original fairy tale and presents a musical quest for justice, love and friendship between two sisters.
Snow White likes to tell stories and paint. Rose Red likes to race with deer and the wolves. When a friendly bear knocks on their door, the mischievious siblings have no idea it is the beginning of a magnificent adventure.
Journeying deeper into the woods than ever before, they battle blizzards, climb mountains and encounter a very small man with a very long and very magical beard.
The Junction is renowned for its innovative Christmas shows, which are developed in the arts centre’s space each year before taking to the stage.
There will be a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted performance on December 20 and a relaxed performance on December 30, designed for people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory or communitation disorders or learning disabilities who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.
