A six-year struggle to reopen Bury St Edmunds’ Theatre Royal is retold in an original production at the theatre from July 16.

Staged at the theatre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its reopening, A Labour Of Love was written by Bury-based playwright Danusia Iwaszkow and will run until July 25.

Based from 1959 to 1965 and retelling the community’s stories of the battle reopen the building, the show will be performed by a cast of local actors and musicians and will also feature an original score by composer Phil Gostelow.
