The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has its first concert as Cambridge Corn Exchange’s Orchestra in Residence on January 30.

The evening of American classics, conducted by David Charles Abell, opens with Gershwin’s Girl Crazy Overture, I Got Rhythm Variations and the jazz-inspired Rhapsody in Blue.

Also expect to hear Copland, Bernstein and even more Gershwin.

The piano soloist is Freddy Kempf who made his concerto début with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of eight and won the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1992.
