Steam railway enthusiasts have an interesting year to look forward to on the Mid Suffolk Light Railway.

Suffolk’s Museum of the Year will have with three locomotives in residence during the 2015 season, including a very rare 1906 Cockerill Belgian tram engine.

Steam trains will be running every summer Sunday and Bank Holiday from May 24 to August 31.

For the two-day Easter Steam Up, ­ on April ­ 5 and 6 the emphasis will be on entertainment for families with children. All three engines will be running and all the railway and museum facilities will be open with steam train rides, museum, shop, café and trackside walk plus Easter Egg hunts for younger visitors.

‘Middy in the War Years’ on Mayday bank holiday weekend is the big event of railway’s calendar, when in addition to the railway attractions, there is are displays and re­enactments including visiting ‘soldiers, sailors and airmen’ with all their kit and vehicles and maybe even a major historical figure or two. The Middy’s new bar coach will be open every time steam trains are running. 2015 promises to be the .

The MSLR will again offer Driver Experience Courses for over 18s at £125. It will also offer cab rides for £10 on selected days.
