One of the country’s most prestigious racing venues is opening its gates for the public next weekend.

The Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, gives curious visitors a more intimate look at the world class racecourses.

On Saturday there will be a chance to see equine sites including Tattersalls and the National Stud, followed by a race meeting with live commentary on the Rowley Mile.

Sunday morning will see many top trainers open their yards, allowing visitors to meet some of the world’s most famous trainers and equine heroes, with more entertainment on the Rowley Mile and the Gymkhana in the afternoon.

There will also be a Food and Drink Festival throughout the weekend, with more than 30 stalls selling produce from sausages to fudge.
