PLANS for the popular Stowmarket Festival have had a boost this week, as the town council received more than £7,000 in funding for the event.

Taking place from May 27 to June 5 in various venues throughout the town – including the new John Peel Centre for Creative Arts – the Stowmarket Festival can now look to planning a bigger and better event.

The festival has received £4,300 from the local strategic partnership and £3,000 from the extended schools programme to put on more events for young people.

Stowmarket Town Council’s Daniel Harvey said: “It’s incredibly good news and means we can put on some really good events and activities.”
