Music fans have the chance to take a commemorative trip back in time in the village of Fordham next month.

The village near Soham will be commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War with a concert by The Opus 17 Big Band on Saturday, September 12, at St Peters Church.

Starting at 7.30pm, the band will be playing music from the Glenn Miller era and will feature memorable classics such as In The Mood, Take the A Train, American Patrol and Wartime Song Medley’s.

The 17-piece swing band, based in Royston, has a varied repertoire of big band hits from the 40s and 50s.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £10 each and can be purchased from the Fancy Pants Shop in Fordham, Soham Books in Soham, Eric Tennants Butchers, Newmarket or by calling 01638 720674.

There will also be a Thanksgiving Service at St Peters Church on Sunday, September 20 at 10.30am.
