Bury St Edmunds indie-punk band The Few to play skatepark jam
Bury St Edmunds indie-punk band The Few are playing a charity gig on Friday to raise money for the town’s skatepark.
Since forming in September last year the band, made up of singer Cameron Lay, guitar and bass player Ciaran Harris, guitarist Emily Wallace and drummer Josh Middleditch, have kept themselves busy, supported psychedelic rock band Pale Fires, Bury four-piece Fortunato and more recently, the Machismo’s at the Hunter Club.
After Friday’s gig - at Bury Skatepark on Olding Road from 7pm - the band have a big headline show booked at the Rehearsal Rooms in Bury on August 15.
Emily said: “Since we started the band we have wanted to play there.
“We have been lucky with the gigs we have played so far.
“Friday’s gig should be fun - I just think it sounds awesome to be playing at a skatepark.”
The band are playing alongside Men of Munga and The Machismo’s.
The Few’s guitarist Emily Wallace said plenty of names came up when choosing a moniker for the band. She said: “We were at the point where with pretty much everything we said to each other we were saying ‘hey, that sounds like a good name for the band’.
“There were lots and lots of names going around our heads at that point. “Then at one rehearsal a couple of us couldn’t make it and someone said that there would just be the few of us.
“We thought ‘yeah, that sounds all right’”
