The final round of racing of the Lotus Cars Cycle Racing League took place on Wednesday on the Lotus F1 test track at Hesset.

Saving their best for this last race were the West Suffolk Wheelers duo of Jeremy Waterson and Fraser Elsworth.

Category four racer Waterson put in a storming effort on the fast course, powering home in a magnificent sixth out of 28 finishers. This was enough for an 11th place overall in the series.

Meanwhile, youth under-14 category B racer Fraser Elsworth, racing in the combined U14/U16 event, had another night to remember with his second succesive first place finish.

This placed him fifth overall on the night’s combined race and was enough to earn him third overall in the under-14 standings.

Stowmarket and District CC held its open 10-mile time trial on Sunday on the B1078/A12 Campsea Ashe-Melton return course.

Superbly-paced riding into the wind on the out leg from Tricia Goulden (24.46) and Mandy Bunn (27.20), saw them home as first and second women respectively.

John Coles made the Wheelers trio up with an equally-strong ride to stop the clock at 27.01.
