Bury Town claimed just their second away win of the season, beating 10-man Leiston 1-0 on Easter Monday.

The already-relegated Blues had goalkeeper Alex Archer to thank after saving Gareth Heath’s 16th-minute penalty, before former Bury captain Tom Bullard was shown a straight red card six minutes later.

Bury made their one-man advantage count by taking the lead on 34 minutes through Justin Miller to get back to winning ways in the Ryman League Premier Division, following Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to fellow strugglers VCD Athletic.

Division One North leaders Needham Market saw their lead at the top cut to just one point, following back-to-back draws with Wroxham and Dereham Town.

After Saturday’s goalless clash at Wroxham, Mark Morsley’s men came from a goal behind to share the spoils with Dereham yesterday.

An own goal on the hour mark from Daniel Morphew cancelled out Ryan Hawkins’ 12th-minute opener for the play-off chasing visitors.

In the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, goals from Daniel Brown and Matthew Waters helped Mildenhall Town to a 2-0 win at Newmarket Town on Monday.

Hall had lost 1-0 to Godmanchester Rovers on Saturday, while Walsham-le-Willows endured defeats to Stanway Rovers (1-2) and Haverhill Rovers (2-0) over the Easter weekend.

Thetford Town picked up four points after following up a 2-1 win at Wivenhoe Town on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at home to Diss Town on Monday.

Team Bury’s winless run in the First Division stretched to six matches after a 2-0 defeat at leaders Long Melford and a 0-0 home draw with March Town United.

Stowmarket Town ended a three match losing run to beat Dereham Town Reserves 3-2 yesterday.

The Old Gold and Blacks had suffered a 4-1 defeat at Great Yarmouth Town on Saturday, in a game which saw half of their 12-man squad made up of players from the club’s under-18s.

Needham Market Reserves’ search for a first win in 2015 continues after a 1-0 defeat at home to Downham Town on Saturday.

Norwich City pushed themselves up into the top two with maximum points from the Easter weekend as Bradley Johnson scored the only goal of the game at Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday and followed it up with two more at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday in a 2-0 win at Carrow Road.

In contrast, Ipswich Town dropped out of the top six with a return of just a point, having seen victory slip from their grasp at home to then league leaders Bournemouth on Friday with Kenwyne Jone’s 82nd minute header levelling after Freddie Sears had given them an early lead.

A lacklustre display saw them go 2-0 down by the break at Huddersfield Town, with Luke Varney scoring what proved to be no more than a consolation to leave them eighth and three points off sixth.
