Josh Webster admits qualifying will be crucial going into the latest rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup.

The Mickfield, near Stowmarket, race ace goes into penultimate race at Silverstone this weekend looking to wrestle back second place overall from Michael Meadows.

The 21-year-old, who still harbours hopes of racing abroad next season, said: “Qualifying is vital at Silverstone as it is a difficult circuit to pass on.

“If you can start on pole it’s an easy track to defend on.”

The Team Parker racing driver will be looking to add to his one race win this season at Spa.

Championship leader Dan Cammish needs three points from the final four rounds to seal the title.

Webster, whose Porsche scholarship ends at the end of the season, said: “I don’t feel too aggrieved that I’m not leading the title as things haven’t always gone my way.

“Obviously I will be disappointed if I can’t retain my title but Dan (Cammish) has got five years on me in terms of experience.”
