Walsham-le-Willows manager Paul Smith is looking for his players to build on their performance against Needham Market when they face fellow strugglers Saffron Walden Town in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division on Saturday.

Although Walsham lost their Suffolk Premier Cup quarter-final tie to Needham 2-0, Smith was pleased with his team’s display.

He said: “I could not knock them for their effort and their commitment.

“Needham are two leagues above us and have better individual players than us.

“But it was a case of whether we would work hard to get into the game, which we did, and we caused them quite a few problems which was pleasing to see.

“Overall it has been a disappointing season for us, but this will give us a little bit of confidence going into Saturday’s game.”

Kick off at Summer Road will be at 3pm.
