Bury St Edmunds director of rugby Gavin Hogg was relieved his Bury St Edmunds side ground out a victory against struggling Guernsey on Saturday.
The 23-14 triumph extended Bury’s lead at the top of National Three London and South East to seven points after second-placed London Irish Wild Geese suffered a shock home loss to relegation-threatened Tring.
Guernsey slumped to the bottom of the table as a result of their defeat at Bury, but led 7-3 as the match approached the hour-mark.
However, three tries in eight second-half minutes provided the catalyst for the leaders to roar back and take charge of the division.
