Eton Manor 5 Bury 10

BURY ended an Eton Manor run of 10 consecutive home wins with a gritty hard-fought victory.

Looking rusty after their enforced break, Bury were under pressure from the kick off, but fine defence kept Manor at bay.

Kenny Eggers finally broke free and his 60 yard break resulted in a penalty for a high tackle. Will Martin successfully kicked it to give Bury a lead against the run of play.

Manor continued to pressure and crossed the line only to spill the ball. The Bury clearance was collected in midfield, but poor tackling allowed the swift Manor backs to cross in the corner. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Warren Kearney made a stunning 80 yard break only to be thwarted by a last-ditch tackle.

Bury won the resulting line out allowing Tim Mann to break the defence and score, Martin collecting the extra two points.

The second half saw 40 minutes of attrition.

Manor had two players sent to the bin, but they had territorial advantage for most of the half and narrowly missed with two penalty attempts.
