Three-way tie at Thetford open

There was a three-way tie at the end of Thetford Golf Club’s Mixed Open.

The event was eventually won by Barry Harding of Staverton Park and his niece Jessica Warner, of Barnham Broom, on countback.

A total of 18 pairs took part, including Thetford captains Andy Dunn and Liz Wigg, who came in with a very respectable 39 points.

This was an impressive return for Dunn, in particular, as he had just returned from a golfing trip to Spain where he had played six rounds in six days.

Matt West and Matt Wabe won the Breckland Cups with a score of 41 Stableford points.

The competition was a Guildford Greensomes, and the runners-up were John Stapleton and Trevor Mouncer with 39, followed by Martin Brockett and Phil Beer and Terry Stephenson and Andrew Bremner, both with 38.

The Ladies EG Medal Division Two was won by Gwen Dixon with a score of 109-35-74, from Val Gallagher 114-34-80 and Shirley Pead 108-24-84.
