Following a hard winter’s training, Team VeloVelocity.co.uk started the time trial season in winning style, thanks to Jason Bouttell.
The team, who have added a new sponsor in Risbygate Solicitors over the winter, saw Bouttell take the honours at the Sudbury CC Mad March Hilly Time Trial on Sunday.
Boutell completed the 22-mile circuit, which started in Lavenham, in 49 minutes 42 seconds, and beat the course record by more than a minute.
Thirty-six riders braved the chilly morning, many looking to pick up some early points in the hotly-contested SPOCO East competition.
Team VeloVelocity won the team prize with Paul Jay finishing sixth in a time of 53.40, and David Staff 15th in 56.08.
Mark Arnold was second (50.28), and Andre Dyason third (51.35).
Paul Rooke, representing West Suffolk Wheelers, finished 10th in 55.12.
Arnold, Jay and Staff had also raced the previous day at the CCB-promoted event on the B10/19 in Hingham.
Arnold won the 10-mile event in 21.50, shaving 17 seconds off the course record, Jay finished a disappointed sixth in 23.26 and Staff 13th in 24.41.
