Tackle shop at fishery

Eyebrook Tackle Shop will be at Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery this Sunday (May 17), with the new offerings from Scierra – go along and try their rods and have a look at the new clothing.

The fishing has been superb again at the fishery. Hawthorns and mayflies are hatching everywhere – plenty of top of the water action, with buzzers still catching on droppers with a dry on the point, using a slow figure of eight retrieve or letting it drift in the wind.

nPlenty of fish have been showing near the surface at Larkwood this week, being taken on small dry flies or small lures such as cat’s whisker, pulled fast just below the surface.

The best fish this week was taken by Steve Chapman, a beautiful full-tailed, 9lb 7oz rainbow, which was returned.

The Fly Dressers’ Guild held their final competition at Larkwood last Sunday, which was won by Paul Speed.
