Stowmarket Town announce Felixstowe's Scott Chaplin as fourth summer signing
Stowmarket have announced Felixstowe & Walton United midfielder Scott Chaplin as their latest summer signing.
The 29-year-old has agreed a one-year deal to join the Old Gold and Blacks, having spent the last two seasons at Felixstowe, where he scored 25 goals in 91 appearances and helped the Seasiders gain promotion to the Bostik League for the first time in their history last term.
The former Ipswich Town youth prospect previously had spells at Bury Town, Needham Market and Hadleigh United, the latter of which saw him win the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division in 2013-14.
Stow boss Rick Andrews said of the signing: "We approached Scott halfway through last season about joining up. At that time Felixstowe were top of the league and chasing the title, so it was always going to be a tough decision for him.
"We agreed to leave the door open and speak in the summer, which has led to today's announcement.
"In my opinion, he fits into the squad perfectly both on and off the pitch. He has won the league with Hadleigh and obviously gained promotion last season with Felixstowe.
"He can play in a variety of positions, which I like as I want to continue the flexibility we have within the squad. I'm looking forward to working with him, starting next week."
