Sporting out to retain their crown

Sporting 87 will be aiming to defend their title in the St Nicholas Hospice Care Shield Final against Wortham on Thursday at Bury Town’s Ram Meadow (7.30pm).

Sporting secured their place in a second successive final with victories over Ram Meadow and Bury Bowl, while their opponents overcame Long Melford Under-18s and Walsham A.

The competition, which is sponsored by Mizkan, formally Premier Foods, is on course to raise over £2000.00 for the hospice this year.

Admission on the night is £3 including a strip of draw tickets with contributions towards the Hospice.

n Meanwhile, the club have teamed up with Sexton’s Manor Community Primary School and announced a new partnership that will provide pupils with football development opportunities.

The project, which has already been running for a trial period, has created joint School-club teams that have been playing in FA WAYS football competitions.
