The St Nicholas Hospice Care football event saw Sporting 87 Res overcame Wortham 2-1 in a very competitive shield final at Bury Town’s Ram Meadow.

Sue Hayter, a trustee of the hospice, presented the trophies and Shield.

The game was well controlled by Referee George Byrne and his assistants Darren Stobbart and Abi Marriott.

The plate final, at Great Barton, saw Cockfield come from 3-1 down to defeat Ram Meadow 4-3 in a game well referred by James Tebbit.

Jorden Hughes, of the hospice, presented the trophies and plate and this season the competition raised £2000.

Special thanks go to Mildenhall Town, Stowmarket Town, Long Melford, Walsham, and Bury Town, for the use of their grounds and floodlights, and also to all the sponsors Mizkan, Days Sports, Curry’s Shoe Repairs, and Martin Chapple Decorators.
