Spectrum girls among the medals

Gymnasts from Bury Spectrum picked up medals in the Regional National Development Programme Grades competition at Pipers Vale, Ipswich.

Mallory Starks, Kati Masson and Courtney Davey, representing Suffolk, were competing against nine other gymnasts from Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire in the regional final grade three (11/12 age category).

The standard of gymnastics was very high, and although finishing overall first on beam and joint first on bars, Masson came third overall .

She was narrowly beaten, by Starks, who took second while Davey finished in fourth place.

In the grade four competition (age 13+) Leah Rogers competed well to take second place; in the grade five competition (12+) Jessica Marshall finished third; and in the grade one competition (15+) Niamh Gill-Ryan took silver.
