Skipper says Bury have got the buzz back
As their ‘Great Escape’ bid continues, captain Sean Park has said there is now a ‘positive buzz’ back among the Bury St Edmunds CC players and a growing belief they can save themselves from relegation.
The outstanding eight-wicket win at their main relegation rivals, Norwich, on Saturday made it three straight victories in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League, having only recorded one all season previous to that to leave them seemingly cut adrift.
Importantly, the weekend’s 25 points has seen Park’s side close the gap to just seven points heading into a run of four games against mid-table sides, starting with Horsford’s visit to the Victory Ground on Saturday (11am).
“We are obviously still not out of it, as we are still bottom but it has pulled us a lot closer than we were three weeks ago,” said captain Park.
“It would be quite an achievement.”
He added: “It was a really pleasing performance on Saturday and we seem to be doing very well in the field now.
“There is a bit more of a buzz now and the players have more self belief that we can go and win.”
