FOLLOWING weeks of ifs, buts and maybes, West Row legend Robert Henry is finally set to be announced as the new Mildenhall Fen Tigers manager, writes Mark Williams.

The former Fen Tiger, arguably one of the club’s greatest ever riders after being handed his debut in 1976, is poised to agree terms this weekend.

Co-promoter Kevin Jolly said: “He is the right man for the job. He has been there, done it and knows what Mildenhall Fen Tigers are all about.

“We are delighted because we are getting the candidate we have wanted from the start – that has to be superb news.”

Henry, who lives in Mildenhall, is believed to have turned down the job offer last month, but has since had a change of heart.

“He suddenly made it clear that he wanted in and we were happy to start talking again,” said Jolly.

Jolly also revealed that the Tigers were on the verge of their latest new signing – but at time of print that rider remained unnamed.
