Rising star Emma, 10, is English champion

Rising squash star Emma Bartley, 10, added to her many titles by becoming England Under-11 Champion at Sheffield.

The Moreton Hall Squash Club member played with confidence and maturity and only dropped one game in the whole tournament at Hallamshire Squash Club.

She knocked out the number one seed Layla Johnson, from Yorkshire, in the semi-final before winning the final against Asia Harris, also from Yorkshire, in three straight games.

The points she won now mean that she will be England number one ranked player in the age group until she turns 11 in August.

Despite her tender age, Bartley, who has been playing the sport since the age of four, is already in the under-13 age group rankings and is the current England number five.

Her success adds to the pedigree of Moreton Hall as a centre of excellence with Bartley the last in a long line of players to develop at the small club in Bury St Edmunds.
