On an initially beautiful evening, Risbygate Ladies finally played their match postponed from earlier in the season against Fordham in the Norfolk and Suffolk League.

Risbygate started well with Jo Harpur and Genella Doble racing through their first match, winning in straight sets.

For second pair Jo Beresford and Anne-Marie Vis, it was much closer with the Bury club and Fordham winning a set each.

In the reverse matches, Harpur and Doble kept up their momentum with another straight-sets win.

But unfortunately, with Beresford and Vis in a commanding position in their match, the rain arrived.

Fordham sportingly conceded leaving Risbygate the overall 7-1 winners.

This win, combined with a strong showing in the latter part of the season lifted the team away from the relegation zone and up into second place in Division One of the table.

nIn the recent junior Risbygate tennis competition, Leo Saiu-Bell defeated Johnny Neaverson in the Under-14 Plate Final (Draw A).
