RECOGNITION: Peter Marlow, who will receive The European Athletics Plaque of Merit for services to athletics

Peter Marlow – who took part in the infamous 1972 Munich Olympics as a race walker – will receive The European Athletics Plaque of Merit for his decades of service to athletics in Slovenia tomorrow.

A manager at the Theatre Royal, Marlow will be recognised for his service to his sport on both the domestic and international scenes at the 24th European Athletics Congress in Bled.

He will also play a part in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro after being selected as an official to judge the two 20 kilometres walks (men’s and women’s) and the men’s 50 kilometres walk.
