Nominations are officially open for the Suffolk Sports Awards 2014.

The award ceremony, organised by Suffolk Sport and supported by Suffolk County Council and BBC Radio Suffolk, takes place on the September 12 at Trinity Park.

The awards are designed to reward and celebrate individual excellence and team achievement, as well as recognise those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

This year sees a change in categories, which include Sports Personality of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Unsung Hero, Young Community Volunteer, Club of the Year, Coach of the Year and Lifetime Achievement and new categories of Individual Performance/Achievement of the Year, Team Performance/Achievement of the Year, Most Active Workplace, School of Sporting Excellence and Participation.

Vicki Askew, sports development manager at Suffolk Sport, said: “I am pleased to announce the launch of this year’s Suffolk Sports Awards.

“I would encourage all members of the public in Suffolk, who know an individual or a team that you feel deserves to be recognised, to nominate them for an award.

“Without nominations, people who deserve to be acknowledged are kept unknown.”

Following nominations, which close on July 20, the panel will select a shortlist. Submit nominations at
