New chapter in Eagles’ history

MILDENHALL Eagles will bring the curtain down on the 2011/12 rugby season by opening a new chapter in their history.

The Greene King IPA Eastern Counties League Division Two outfit will play their final match of the campaign at Red Lodge Sports Pavilion in the village’s Hundred Acre Way.

Mildenhall plan to make the ground their regular home next year, ending their association with Jeagor Farm in Holywell Row, Mildenhall.

Shirley Hunter, secretary for the Eagles, thanked the Farm for accommodating them in recent years and added: “In the middle of that new housing estate in Red Lodge we will hopefully draw people in to watch us — it can only be for the best.”

Mildenhall Eagles host Norwich Union tomorrow (3pm) for their debut fixture in Red Lodge.

Cllr Katy Cooper, from Red Lodge Parish Council, said: “It’s a really good thing for us that we have them coming.”
