New captains drive in

Four new captains have driven in at Stowmarket Golf Club. First to take to the fairway was new Seniors’ captain Jim Deasy, who was presented with the traditional captain’s shirt by outgoing captain Barry Lloyd.

New ladies’ captain, Annie Tyler, a former driving instructor, was chauffeured in style to the first tee. Shas chosen for her captain’s charity the Mid Suffolk Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

New club captain David Fletcher, a former estate agent, arrived at the first tee to find it dressed up with mock houses, ‘for sale’ and ‘to let’ signs plus a road sign appropriately named ‘Captain’s Drive’. His charity is St Nicolas Hospice Care.

The active junior section elected Ben Moyes as captain, with Jack Orriss as vice-captain. Moyes got his year off in style by winning the club’s Junior Easter Trophy.
