Stefan Nielsen is aiming to move a step closer to sealing FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship as he looks to confirm his place in the finals.
The 20-year-old who is based in Bury St Edmunds, will be one of two riders representing Great Britain alongside Ashley Morris, as the duo battle it out with the brightest talent across Europe in Terenzano, Italy on Saturday, for a place in the three-part final series starting in August.
And having endured a difficult outing in the competition three years ago, the former Mildenhall Tiger star, who now rides for Premier League side Ipswich Witches and Belle Vue in the Elite League is determined to make amends having learnt a lot in the preceding years and take a top five spot.
“I’m feeling good, confident and ready to go,” said the former British Under-19 champion.
“Last time I was in the competition I was no where near qualifying and so I’m hoping for a lot more this time.
“I’ve learnt so much since then and I’m a completely different rider now.
“I need to be in the top four or five to progress to the finals and so that is definitely my aim.
“I’ve been really pleased this year and although I’m not scoring a lot of points in the Elite League I feel I have been riding a lot better.
“A lot has changed in the years since I last competed but I feel more prepared and a lot better in myself, I can’t wait.”
