West Suffolk Athletics Club (WSAC) had runners representing Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in the 2014 English Schools Cross Country Championships, held at Castle Donnington in the East Midlands.

Niall Ackroyd placed 108th in the junior boys’ race, while English National Championships bronze medallist Michael Bartram faded to 43rd in the senior boys’ race. Fellow senior boy Seb Anthony was 160th.

Lauren Murphy’s high expectations probably proved her undoing with pre-race nerves contributing to a disappointing 63rd in the junior girls’ race.

Olivia Allum was 133rd, Megan Newton 147th, Rebecca Daniel 173rd, Katrina Kemp 174th, Polly Peate 254th and Mikayela Sealby 315th.

Sophie Tooley and Charlotte Murphy ran most of the inter girls’ race side by side and finished in 18th and 22nd, respectively.

Holly Davies had a successful return to racing after a hip injury and can be pleased with 186th, while Emily Moyes was 245th.
