Josh Webster only needs to finish fifth in this afternoon’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB finale at Brands Hatch to clinch the title.

A mature drive from the Suffolk speedester, who lives in Mickfield, near Stowmarket, saw him finish second behind non-scoring Dan Cammish in the morning’s opening race at the Kent circuit.

A fastest lap of one minute 29.925 seconds on lap 14 handed him a maximum 21 points from the race, meaning he just needs to finish fifth or higher to take the title.

If Cammish is in the top five, Webster can afford to take sixth and still win the crown after title rival Michael Meadows finished two places down in fourth.

Meadows has won the previous two Porsche Carrera Cup GB titles, while Webster is in his first season of sports car action.
