Josh Webster is set to race on the famous Silverstone circuit this weekend with a 14-point lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship standings.

The Mickfield driver heads to the Northamptonshire track for the penultimate meeting of the season, as rounds 16 and 17 are contested in the 19-race championship event.

A superb debut season for Webster sees him stand at the top of the pile with 282 points, with his nearest rival Michael Meadows on 268 points.

After four consecutive race wins, the Redline Racing driver has seen his lead cut back to 14 points following two near-perfect weekends from his closest title-rival Meadows.

Samsung UHD TV Racing’s Meadows took the full 22 points in rounds 12, 13 and 14, before having to retire in the latest round at the Rockingham circuit earlier this month.

Webster made the most of Meadows’ error to finish in second place, and put himself in pole position to take home the title in the season finale at Brands Hatch on October 12.

Qualifying for round 16 at Silverstone gets under way on Saturday at 11.45am, with the race later on in the afternoon at 4.25pm.

And the meeting concludes on Sunday, with the action starting at 12.35pm.
