BURY St Edmunds will once again be hosting the annual Bury and West Suffolk Junior Tennis Tournament at the Victory Sports Ground.
The tournament, sponsored by Glasswells, which runs from Monday July 25 through to Saturday July 30, will involve a number of different events, including singles and doubles for various age groups, American doubles for age ten and under, the Bury Free Press- sponsored mixed doubles, for various ages, mini tennis green for ages ten and under, as well as a mini tennis orange for ages nine and under, and also a consolation singles event for all losers from the first match.
The long-running event will be celebrating its 84th anniversary this year and tournament chairman Susan Glasswell proudly explained what all visitors throughout the five days can expect as she looks to build on the success of previous tournaments.
She said: “The fact the tournament is in its 84th year is such a great achievement for the community and the tournament itself in promoting junior tennis.
“As the chairman, I am as ever looking forward to the event because it is very much a family-orientated tournament and I am pleased to be involved in the running of it once again.
“There is always a fantastic atmosphere throughout the entire tournament and this year should be no different. We have 211 entrants competing in all events, ranging from the eight and under categories right up to the 21 and under matches.
“There are also a number of other activites as well as the tournament itself. There will be a mini tennis fun area created for all younger players to come and play, as well as a barbecue and Top Spin Tennis will be at the event selling merchandise such as clothing and tennis rackets, they will also be organising demonstration games.
“I would also like to thank Glasswells, Ensors and the Bury Free Press for their involvement with the event.”
