West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club members secured several top-10 placings in the 11th round of the Eastern Cyclocross League at Hempton, near Fakenham, on Sunday.
In the under-10s’ race, Harley Gregory was fifth, Oliver Griggs seventh, Charlie Knowler eighth and Sophie Griggs 12th.
Fraser Elsworth showed increasing promise in the under-12s’ event to finish 14th, having made considerable ground on the leading pack.
In the combined men’s and women’s race, the torrential rain did not dampen the efforts of the Wheelers’ contingent, a number of whom recorded their highest league placings to date.
Paul Watson’s fifth was reward for his season’s efforts, while Peter Golding took eighth, Darren Baker 25th, Barry Denny 26th, David Griggs 33rd, Nicole Gregory 34th and Angela Joiner-Handy 35th.
In the men’s senior race, Mike Bowen continued his good form with fifth, followed by Richard Stiff (21st), but Matt Denny did not finish.
