Success for Pacers at county champs

Bury St Edmunds Pacers enjoyed a very successful day at the Suffolk County Cross Country Championships, held at Ickworth Park at the start of the month.

The women led the way with superb victories in the senior team event, as well as enjoying joint first place in the under-17s’ team race.

The senior women beat West Suffolk Athletics Club into second place, led home by Odette Robson, who finished third overall.

Robson was supported by Claire Hoblyn, Angie Joiner-Handy and Anna Clayton, who finished ninth, 10th and 11th respectively.

The under-17s were led home by Kerry Knott in second place, with Emma Watts (seventh) and Ciara O’Donnell (ninth) completed the scoring.

Both the under-15 and under-13 girls’ teams finished in third place, with Chloe Doyle (ninth) and Aoife O’Donnell (14th) leading the teams home.

The men put in equally impressive performances, with the senior men’s team finishing second over the 12k course.

Led home by Oscar Partridge in 11th place, Tom Kingsnorth (13th), Chris Cooke (18th) and Julian Long (24th) completed the scoring.

Chris Cook also won the Masters’ over-50s trophy.

The under-13 boys’ team also finished in second place, led home with a superb run by Louis Joiner-Handy, who finished in second place overall.

Henry Steel (11th) and Barney Green (14th) completed the scoring. Tommy Robinson was first Pacer home in 12th place in the men’s under-17 race, with Jimmy Jameson finishing 24th in the under-15s.
