A field of 17 teams converged on Stowmarket’s Chilton Fields to compete in Suffolk Volleyball Association’s fifth annual Suffolk Open.
In Division One, six teams competed in the initial round-robin stage, which Stowmarket triumphed in by winning all five of their matches.
They were then joined in the final by holders JESM of London, who had won three matches.
Despite being the form side, Stowmarket had no answer for their opponents, who stormed to a two-set victory to retain their title.
Eleven teams competed in a ladder-style tournament for Division Two.
After the first two rounds, MISEY from Peterborough and Ipswich-based sides VC Meerkats, Pandas and Lemurs found themselves tied at the top having won three of their four sets.
By round four, Pandas were ahead of Lemurs at the top with Suffolk New College in third.
Those top two cemented their places in the final two rounds to qualify for the division final.
Division Two featured three categories of teams and so yielded three finals.
MISEY took on PACE of Stow Stingers in the ladies’ final, with MISEY winning 2-0.
The mixed final was a close affair with Meerkats taking the first set against Stowmarket II before sneaking the second and dominating the deciding third set.
