EAST WOMEN’S DIVISION ONE NORTH: Norwich Dragons 0 Bury Ladies 0: Bury held top-of-the-league Norwich Dragons to a stalemate in a well-deserved draw.

Millie Sharp held the middle for Bury, dominating play and feeding the ball out wide to open the game up.

It was in the second half that Sharon Stevens claimed her place as one of the team’s true legends, with her stupendous saves left, right and centre that would lead to her title as player-of-the-match.

However, the forwards were unable to fire the ball into the net, yet the attempts were plentiful.

Mid-table Bury will chase another home victory as Wisbech come to Bury tomorrow.

n Bury II won 1-0 at Sudbury, in this gritty Suffolk Ladies’ League match.

Just before half time, excellent work in the D from Mazz Chapman and Chloe Lawson resulted in a sneaky goal.

n Bury III played a hard-fought Suffolk Ladies’ League game at IES II, to finish in a 1-1 draw.

Jade Taylor, in her first game in goal, saved a couple of good attempts before IES went ahead, with Mel Mathieson scoring the equaliser.

n Paul Whiting hammered home the first goal for Bury Mixed, away at IES, leading to two more in quick succession, one from Ian Konrath and another from Whiting. A beautiful goal from Rob Wilson and one from Julie Grayling gave Bury a 5-1 win.

Thetford 3

Holding on to much of the possession and frequent drives towards goal reaped rewards for Thetford.

Sophie Kelly converted a short corner within minutes of the game’s start.

The visitors’ lead was doubled when Sophie Wheeler scored from a deflection from the goalkeeper, who had saved a shot from Karen Hodgkinson.

Substitutes Jamie Keeble and Sadie Jacobs put in good efforts, with Kelly scoring again.
