The second round of St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association’s early-season race series took place at Lackford Lake on Sunday.

Mike Steele’s toe straps broke on his Laser in the early stages of the opening race, sending him somersaulting into the water, but he fought back to win on corrected times from Carl Day and Alan Shaw’s Enterprise in second and Will Harrison’s Laser in third.

Mike Senior’s Laser led for two laps, but he was caught out by the wind and was sent into the water.

In the second race, Harrison led from the start, but was eventually overhauled by Steele.

Day/Shaw were not far behind but lost out on corrected time to Debs Steele for third.

The final race of the day was a pursuit race with Debs Steele’s Topper caught and overtaken by husband Mike’s Laser in the final minutes of the race.

However, she succeeded in keeping a few boat lengths ahead of the Day/Shaw Enterprise.
