CULFORD School sports scholar Elliot Smith has been selected for the National Hockey Squad and will represent England at under-18 level.
Selection for one of the National Age Group Squads (NAGS) is the highest honour a young hockey player can attain.
Elliot, 16, is a year younger than most of his team mates and will be competing in the annual Four Nations Invitation Tournament with Germany, Spain and the Netherlands, to be held at Easter next year. Elliot has been playing hockey for five years and was selected for the England under-16s squad last year.
He hopes to go on to play for the England Senior Squad in the future and has his sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.
Culford School’s director of hockey, Matt Copping, commented: “Elliot’s dedication, passion and commitment is a shining example to others as to what can be achieved.”
