In the week that one of Britain’s greatest ever Olympic swimmers, Rebecca Adlington, retired Stowmarket Seals Swimming Club celebrated the impact of London 2012 on its swimmers at their annual presentation evening.

On the night, Rob Borrett and Amy Davies
received the best male and best female awards respectively having exemplified the key Olympic values
of determination, excellence, inspiration and friendship.

Borrett and Davies both overcame a broken leg and broken arm respectively to continue swimming, enter the club championships and qualify for the county championships.

Celebrating the commitment and work of children and parents alike, highlights from the year included 43 swimmers achieving qualifying times to compete in the county finals, eight swimmers making it to regional level and four swimmers participants attending the national finals.

The boys’ squad won the Suffolk winter league while the club won the summer league for the first time in its history, while Robert Lancaster, Elysia Golding and Chloe Long were club champions.
