Ben Barker’s luck showed no sign of changing at the penultimate Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland round of the season, but his pace in the #89 Land Motorsport entry provided cause for optimism for the future.
The Clare-raised arrived at the Nurburgring hoping to end his season on a high by challenging for wins over the final two double-headers.
However, his plans were to be upset from the first session when he suffered difficulties with his gearbox.
A new gearbox was fitted, but Barker was relegated to the back of the 22-car grid for both races. He worked his way through the field in the first, narrowly missing a top ten finish.
In the second race, he moved through the field to 14th before a collision with Niclas Kentenich ripped his left rear tyre off the rim and forced him to withdraw.
Barker’s last chance of a podium finish comes in the final round of the German domestic series is at Hockenheim on October 16-18.
