Bury St Edmunds’ Steven Rue will head around the around to compete in the Adelaide Duathlon ITU (Age Group) World Championships next month.

Since qualifying for the World Championships, to be held on October 18, in March at the Rutland Water Dambuster Duathlon, where he came second in his age category 60-64, the 63-year-old has continued to train hard with local clubs Saint Edmund Pacers and West Suffolk Wheelers to prepare for the 10km run, 40km bike, and 5km run that makes up the standard distance duathlon event.

A keen, competitive runner all his life, Rue took up competitive cycling in 2012 to maintain fitness when injury prevented him running.

The East of England Ambulance driver, who is an ardent Nowton Parkrun competitior, has since competed in duathlons around England and also Spain and Austria.
