Robin wins family rivalry once again

Robin Lines again showed his father Dick how to race during the fourth and final round of the Thetford Mountain Bike Winter Racing Series, which took place in windy conditions at Mayday Meadow in Thetford Forest on Sunday.

West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club member Robin completed two laps in one hour 16 minutes 53 seconds to finish 18th in the one-hour mixed category, with Dick Lines in 29th (two laps in 1.23.13).

In the two-hour veteran male category (104 finishers), Paul Watson produced a commendable ride to complete four laps in 2.06.56 for 14th.

Clubmate Matt Eaglen was 35th (2.17.07) and Ray Reeves 53rd (2.25.15).

Riding for his first claim trade team, Malcolm Borg (The Cycle Clinic in Glemsford) raced superbly to finish 17th (seven laps in 4.10.57) in the endurance-based four-hour event (33 riders).

Also riding for his second claim club, Jamie Wightman (Revel Outdoors, Bury St Edmunds) placed well in the two-hour senior male event (95 riders), finishing 16th (four laps in 2.04.42).
