West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club held the latest edition of their increasingly-popular Grass Track Cycle Racing Day on Sunday.

Some of the top grass track riders along from all over the country, along with riders from local clubs, descended on Fornham All Saints Village Hall field to contest on the 250m grass track.

VC Raphael’s Andrew Leverton won the National Short Distance Series sprint, with home club’s Nicole Greogry and David Young also racing well.

Leverton was also comfortable winner of the two-lap senior race, while in the 8km endurance race, Richard Meadows of Hull-based Cottingham Courers showed depths of speed endurance to shake off his three main challengers for a well-deserved win.

CC Sudbury’s Simon Daw finished in sixth while the Wheelers’ junior riders also fared well, with Oliver Griggs, Harley Gregory and Matt and Sam Asker enjoying some highly competitive racing.

Matt Asker finished third in the Devil, with brother Sam second overall in the day’s events.
