Kim O’Brien enjoyed a winning return to the National Ladies Singles Pool Tournament after more than a decade of absence from the competition in Great Yarmouth.

Having lost in the final in 2001, the Bury St Edmunds-based player returned to the Vauxhall Holiday Park in style to come out on top in the tournament, which attracted more than
200 entrants.

Playing consistently over the three-day event, O’Brien — who has represented both England and Ireland in her 20-year career — overcame a host of England internationals on her way to the final, where she conquered national team captain Barbara Taylor in a 6-3 success.
