Master-class show in impressive win

Bury Men’s 1st XI 9, Norwich City 2nd XI 2

BURY returned to their home ground of Nowton Park with an impressive win.

With the return of Paul Duck, Henry Dunne and Will Nunn, Bury were almost at full strength and it showed with great movement and passing in a first half display that was second to none.

Norwich City were the unfortunate team to suffer this master class of hockey and had little answer to Bury’s free flowing game.

The goals started to flow when the Norwich side conceded a second short corner and Nik Ciappi tucked the ball away with a routine straight from the training ground.

Other first half goals came from Steve Jackson (2), Veg Konrath (2) and Stuart Findell, giving the home side a 6-0 lead at the break. Norwich were always going to try to come back into the game, but were well marshalled at the back by Tom Campbell-Todd and Tommy Rash, with Campbell-Todd being awarded man of the match.

Norwich did score two goals, but Bury answered back each time with impressive strikes from Nunn and Konrath.

The final act saw Bury claim their ninth goal with yet another well worked move leading to Oli Whitemore claiming his first goal for the team.
